Yoga is really about the mind. Where the mind goes the body follows. It's about being open minded, discipline in practice and showing up everyday for the journey. Everyday is a recommitment to find balance and freedom. I struggle to find the time and motivation. Which is funny to me because I enjoy the practice of Yoga so very much.
It brings me joy when I can do the Crow pose or bind my hands in a twist. It brings me joy to find balance in my body and mind. So why do I struggle? I think it's the being present part. It's hard to not think about the groceries or the housework or how tired I am.
I have met the most wonderful women in this journey. I have challenged myself and found encouragement and support from my fellow Yogi's. I am having a blast! So, my next post I am going to demonstrate some of my new moves. I have to do an hour teaching video for my mid-term. When I complete that I will post that as well.
I feel so wonderful when I am teaching and can bring others to the joy of Yoga. I feel so grateful that I have the opportunity to teach my friends at Northwoods. It helps me so much with what I am learning.
I hope that when I have finished my final days at Northwoods I can dedicate more time to my practice. I am very excited about the future. Whatever that brings!

An observation about The Bhagavad Gita, Bible and other Holy books
Though out my life I have been interested in religion. Who's right? Who's going to heaven? Is there a heaven? How did we end up with so many different view points? I have read a lot of the Bible and studied ancient religions in college. I have read many books and articles on all sorts of different view points.
Here is my personal observation. They all say the same thing, basically. Do the right thing by your fellow human beings, act in a selfless manner, feed the hungry, feed your soul and be good to your mother. If everyone cared less about what book others were reading and really practiced the true nature of any of these books, including tolerance and non-judgement of others, we would have more love and less war.
I don't care what you call your higher spirit. I care that you follow the teaching of that book and be kind to others. Hatred is created through ignorance so open your minds and some books. Get educated, smile at your neighbor, feed someone hungry and spend 10 minutes thanking your parents (or whomever gave you guidance, love and compassion) for the love and support you received growing up.
Take some accountability for your own actions and forgive someone today. You'll feel better, they will feel better and maybe, just maybe, one less person will do harm to someone else today.
Love and Peace My Friends!

What an amazing journey
I knew I would have many emotions when I started down this path. I am thrilled to know that I feel more at peace about my decision today than I did the day I actually made the decision to start Yoga Teacher Training. I've had moments of questioning if I could do it and moments of questioning if I wanted to do it. I know at this moment I am exactly where I am supposed to be. I am discovering myself and I feel at peace.
I quit my full time job, my last day is April 1st. Since I started this journey I feel more like myself and excited about the future than I have in longer than I can remember.
I have had to expand my mind, my body and my spirit is growing because of that expansion. I don't know what the future holds and I love it. I don't know what it is but I'm sure it will be all about being the truest me I can be.
I wish for everyone that at some point in their lives they put themselves out there and listen to their hearts. Go for the tough decisions, the road less traveled and discover a life full of fulfillment. I feel that I will have more to give to those I love by living my truth. Love and Peace my friends.

How many hours are in a day?
What would the Bhaghavad Gita say about my "entanglement" in this accomplishment or lack there of? I'll let you know if I ever finish the book.

Life Changing
This weekend was my first weekend of Yoga Teacher Training with Donna Winters. Donna is the owner of Balanced Yoga.
It was extremely challenging. I certainly have my work cut out for me. It was a great experience and I was moved to tears a few times because I realize this experience is going to be life changing for me.
There are seven students in my class. I really like them all. There isn't one person in my class that won't be a friend by the end of our training. Everyone is very diverse and that makes it interesting. I also believe we will help each other through this process. That's a really nice feeling.
Donna is a great teacher. She is very knowledgeable and extremely gifted at teaching. I like how passionate she is about imparting the right knowledge on the student. She is patient, opinionated and interesting.
I'll post a video soon.
Stay tuned!

My Video Journal-1
In this blog I intend to add a video diary. I'm an animated person who is more comfortable talking then typing. I will also be sharing some of my new moves along the way.

The Beginning
Ok, I now know why I couldn't write my first post last night. It has something to do with my Mac. Bummer! I'll have to get that one figured out. JOSHHHHHHHHH! HELP ME!
Well, Angie presented me with my first yoga challenge today. She asked me to go to Shadowbox live Saturday night. If you know me you know I LOVE the Shadowbox.
I said no. I know I need to be rested and focused as I embark on this journey. It wouldn't be a good idea to go in hung over on my second day. Definately next time Angie! Thanks for the invitation.
